1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using ZimRate (zimrate.statotec.com), including its website and developer API, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
ZimRate is operated by Statotech Systems as an independent information service. These terms govern your use of the website and API regardless of whether you have a registered account.
2. Service Description
ZimRate aggregates and presents publicly available exchange rate data published by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ), alongside inflation statistics and gold coin prices. The service is provided for informational purposes only.
ZimRate is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the RBZ, the Government of Zimbabwe, or any financial institution. Rate data is sourced from publicly accessible RBZ publications.
3. Developer API
ZimRate provides a free REST API for developers. Access is subject to the following conditions:
- You must create a free account and generate a named API key from your dashboard to make authenticated requests
- Free accounts are subject to rate limits (currently 100 requests per day and 60 requests per minute per key)
- You may create multiple named keys. Each key is subject to its own rate limits
- You are responsible for keeping your API keys secure. Do not share keys publicly or commit them to public repositories
- Rate limits are enforced per key. Exceeding limits returns a
429 Too Many Requestsresponse - API usage data is retained for up to 365 days per account and is visible in your dashboard. Data older than one year is automatically deleted
We reserve the right to suspend or revoke API access for accounts that abuse the service, attempt to circumvent rate limits, or use the API for purposes that harm the service or other users.
3a. Billing & Paid Plans
ZimRate currently offers a free tier only. A Premium paid plan is in development and will be made available in a future release. The Premium plan will offer higher rate limits, priority support, and an uptime SLA.
When billing is introduced, additional terms covering payment, refunds, and plan changes will be published. Existing free-tier users will not be automatically charged — upgrading will always be an explicit opt-in action.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use ZimRate to:
- Attempt to bypass, circumvent, or disable rate limiting or authentication
- Scrape or mirror the service at volumes that degrade performance for other users
- Resell or commercially redistribute API data without written permission
- Use the service in any way that violates applicable law
- Impersonate another user or provide false registration information
5. No Financial Advice
Nothing on ZimRate constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. All data is provided for general informational purposes only. Do not make financial decisions based solely on information from this service. Always verify rates directly with your bank or the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe before conducting any transactions.
6. Data Accuracy & Service Availability
ZimRate makes reasonable efforts to keep data accurate and the service available, but we provide the service as-is without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- Continuous, uninterrupted availability of the website or API
- Real-time accuracy of exchange rate data at every moment
- That the service will be free from errors or delays
Scheduled or emergency maintenance may occur with or without advance notice. During maintenance, the service may be degraded or unavailable.
7. Accounts & Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and API keys. Notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
We reserve the right to terminate accounts that violate these terms or that have been inactive for an extended period.
