Important Notice
ZimRate is an independent, privately operated information service. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ), the Government of Zimbabwe, or any government authority. All exchange rate data displayed on this website is sourced directly from publicly available information published by the RBZ on their official website.
1. About ZimRate
ZimRate (zimrate.statotec.com) is operated by Statotech Systems as an independent information aggregation service. The purpose of this website is to make publicly available exchange rate data published by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe easier to access and understand for the general public.
We do not generate, set, influence, or manipulate any exchange rate figures. All rates displayed are the official interbank rates as published by the RBZ and are reproduced here solely for public information purposes.
2. No Affiliation with Government or RBZ
ZimRate is an independent private service. We have no formal relationship, partnership, or affiliation with:
- The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ)
- The Government of Zimbabwe or any of its ministries
- Any Zimbabwean government authority, regulator, or state-owned entity
- Any commercial bank or financial institution
The RBZ brand, name, and data remain the intellectual property of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. ZimRate does not claim ownership of any data sourced from the RBZ.
3. Disclaimer — Not Financial Advice
Nothing on this website constitutes financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. The exchange rates, inflation figures, and gold prices displayed are for general informational purposes only.
You should not make any financial or business decisions based solely on information found on this website. Always consult a qualified financial professional or verify current rates directly with your bank or the RBZ before conducting any transactions.
ZimRate, its operators, and affiliates accept no liability whatsoever for any losses, damages, or adverse consequences arising from the use of, or reliance on, information displayed on this website.
4. Data Accuracy & Availability
While we make every reasonable effort to ensure data is accurate and up to date, we cannot guarantee:
- That rates are current at the exact moment you view them
- That data has not been delayed, missed, or disrupted due to service interruptions
- That the RBZ source website has not changed or been temporarily unavailable
For the most accurate and current official rates, always refer to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe official website.
5. Registered Accounts & API Keys
ZimRate offers optional free user accounts to access the developer API. When you register, we collect and store:
- Your email address — used only for account authentication and service notices
- A hashed password (scrypt) — your plaintext password is never stored
- Named API keys you create — stored as one-way hashes after issuance; full key values are shown only once at creation time and cannot be recovered
- Per-key daily request counts for rate limiting, quota enforcement, and the usage charts in your dashboard
- Session tokens stored server-side, referenced via an HttpOnly cookie (
zr_session) in your browser
Data retention: API usage data (daily call counts) is retained for a maximum of 365 days per user. Data older than one year is automatically deleted. Account data (email, password hash, keys) is retained for as long as your account is active.
We do not collect, store, or sell names, payment information, or any financial transaction data. Currency amounts entered into the converter are processed in your browser and never transmitted to our servers.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
6. Cookies & Sessions
ZimRate does not use advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookie we set is zr_session — an HttpOnly, secure session cookie used solely to maintain your logged-in state. It contains no personal information and is cleared on logout or expiry.
We do not use advertising networks, retargeting pixels, or third-party tracking scripts that identify individual users.
7. Third-Party Services
This website is hosted by a third-party infrastructure provider. Exchange rate data is retrieved from publicly accessible web pages operated by the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe.
8. Lawful Basis for Operation
ZimRate operates on the basis that:
- All data displayed originates from publicly available information published by a government institution for public consumption
- The service does not reproduce any proprietary, confidential, or restricted information
- The service provides value-added presentation of public data and does not replace or compete with official sources
- No commercial transaction, currency dealing, or financial intermediation is conducted through this website
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy and Disclaimer from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Continued use of ZimRate following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
